EUR 5m investment for Enterprise File Services company DRACOON: Round2 Capital supports growth strategy

DRACOON, a leading provider in the field of secure enterprise file services, successfully closed another financing round. Financing partner Round2 Capital joins as a new investor, as well as the German Experium GmbH. In addition, High-Tech Gründerfonds, WENVEST Capital, AVG Vermögensverwaltung GmbH, Bayerische Beteiligungsgesellschaft mbH (BayBG), P+W Media and parts of DRACOON’s management team are also participating from the existing shareholder base.

DRACOON, based in Regensburg, is the market leader in the field of enterprise file services in German-speaking countries and has set itself the task of giving the world back sovereignty over its data with its platform. Following the principle of „Privacy by Design“, DRACOON has integrated client-side encryption. Sent and stored data is protected to the maximum, because the key for decryption always remains with the owner. Not even the admin or DRACOON as the operator have access. The fine-grained user and rights management offers individual access rights to all stored data. Authorised users thus retain full control.

The investors provide a total of EUR 5m in growth capital. With the newly provided financial means they are planning to further expand the technological platform and to drive growth through market penetration in the focus industries. Investment bank Carlsquare supported the fundraising, and business law firm LUTZ | ABEL was involved in the transaction.

Co-managing director of DRACOON, Arved Graf von Stackelberg, is pleased with the new investment: “With the help of our investors, we will further expand our market leadership in the DACH region in 2021 and also contribute to further promoting digitalisation in Germany and Europe. Especially in times of the current pandemic, the need for cloud solutions is greater than ever and we support businesses in ensuring maximum security when working from home.

Dr Björn Momsen, CFO at DRACOON, emphasizes the vision of a long-term partnership with new investor Round2 Capital: „Round2Capital offers both an excellent network in the industries relevant to us as well as the corresponding technological expertise. Since they provide the necessary investment instruments – both equity and revenue-based loans – we already have a financing partner at our side for further steps in the future of DRACOON.

Stefan Nagel, Round2 Capital Managin Partner: „We believe that data security as well as sovereignty are two of the defining topics of the next few years. With its products DRACOON is meeting the highest standards both in terms of security and accessibility. We are looking forward to support their further growth path.“
